Video: Orphanage attendants caused serious burn injuries to children’s hands for not eating food

Karimnagar: In a heinous incident, three children of Sishu Gruha maintained by State managed Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) were given serious burn injuries on their hands when attendants branded them with hot spoon for not refusing to eat food at the hostel.

After knowing the incident which took place on last Friday, police, revenue officials, members of Child Welfare Committee and others visited the orphanage which is located on Savaran street opposite the residence of Maharashtra Governor Mr. Ch. Vidyasagar Rao.

Mr. K. Hari Prasad, Inspector of Police, Karimnagar Two Town, informed that three orphan children, Swaroopa (5), Geetha (5) and Rajan (2) suffered burn injuries when the attendants, Padma and Butchavva burnt their hands with hot spoon as they had refused to take food on Friday night. Police registered a case and investigations are in progress.

Collector, Neetu Prasad rushed to Sishu Gruha and expressed her anguish over the incident.

The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has asked for the report before 2nd May.
