NEW DELHI: The ex-contestant of reality show Bigg Boss Swami Om is no stranger to controversy neither the self-proclaimed godman is a stranger to violence.
In yet another incident, the controversy’s infamous child and his friend is beaten up by angry mob in the premises of Supreme Court for speaking against the SC’s verdict on Triple Talaq pronounced by Justice JS Khehar-led 5 judges’ bench.
The incident took place on 22 August when apex court gave a historical verdict in the Muslim practice of Triple Talaq.
According to media reports, Swami Om and supporters was at the Supreme Court premises to stop Deepak Mishra from becoming the next Chief Justice of India.
The self- acclaimed godman reportedly said that apex’s court verdict on Triple Talaq will result in jeopardy of men’s freedom and that women will get more independence as compared to men.
This statement of his has irked many present and therefore the infuriated crowd pounced and caught hold of him and his friend and began thrashing them.

In a landmark judgement, the five-judge Bench of Supreme Court on Tuesday struck down triple talaq by 3:2 majority and termed it void, illegal and unconstitutional.
While Justice Kurian Joseph, Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman and Justice Uday Umesh Lalit struck down the practice; CJI Khehar and Justice Nazeer in their minority verdict expressed hope that the Centre’s legislation will take into account the concerns of Muslim bodies and the Sharia law.
