Mandya: The president of a village panchayat in Maddur Taluk allegedly tried to molest a woman employee, with the incident captured on a CCTV camera installed in the office.
The video, which has gone viral, purportedly shows the accused, Chandrahas, lifting the woman, a Group D employee, and trying to molest her at the Kestur Panchayat office after office hours last evening.
Police said they have arrested Chandrahas and an investigation was on.
“He tried to rape me, he pulled me, I shouted…then again he called me and tried to lift me.I escaped from him and went home. It was 6 pm when I was about to go home,” the victim, a widow, said.
Villagers have demanded that the accused be sacked from his post immediately.
