London: Manchester City missed the chance to gain three points in the Premier League table after midfielder Vurnon Anita struck an equalizer to help Newcastle settle with a 1-1 draw at St James’ Park.
City’s midfielder Sergio Aguero put his side ahead by smashing an off-side free-kick in the 14th minute of the match before Anita leveled the score in the 31st minute, the Guardian reported.
Newcastle had a chance to score another goal, but City goalkeeper Joe Hart produced a fine performance by saving a probable goal from Georginio Wijnaldum to ensure the hosts remain in the bottom three.
With just three games left, City are currently third in the standings and are trailing by 12 points from Leicester City at the top of the table.
They will now play against Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium on May 1.
