Waqf land at Asif Nagar assigned as ‘patta’

Revenue Department has issued ‘pattas’ on the Waqf land at Asif Nagar. In this connection Telangana Waqf Board made representation with Hyderabad Collector. Chief Executive Officer Waqf Board Mohammed Asadullah told that pattas have been issued on 13 guntas Waqf land pertaining to Imampura graveyard and masjid.

Following receipt of complaints regarding issue of pattas, Waqf Board officials conducted survey of the land which revealed that government issued 37 pattas to the present occupants under GO 58.

Chief Executive Officer told that issuing pattas on waqf land is illegal hence revenue department should immediately cancel the pattas. Deccan Waqf Protection Committee led by Osman Al-Hajri represented the matter with Waqf Board at the behest of Siasat editor Mr. Zahed Ali Khan.

It must be noted that according to the provisions of the Waqf Act (Section 51), properties belonging to the Waqf Board ‘cannot be alienated/sold/purchased/mortgaged and transferred, etc.’
