MUMBAI: Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui on Monday shares a hard-hitting video in which he without targeting any religion or institutions reveals what his true religion is.
Following Delhi student Gurmehar Kaur’s video minus any dialogues format, the 42 year old actor in a video shared on Facebook is seen showing a series of placard in which he says that he is ‘16.66% Muslim,’ ‘16.66% Hindu,’ 16.66% Christian,’ ‘16.66% Sikh,’ ‘16.66% Buddhist’ and ‘16.66% other religions’ – all adding up to ‘100% artist.’
In the short film directed by his brother Shamas Nawab Siddiqui, the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor says:
“Hi, I am Nawazuddin Siddiqui. I had got my DNA test done & when the report came in, I found that I am 16.66% Hindu, 16.66% Muslim, 16.66% Sikh, 16.66% Christian, 16.66% Buddhist, 16.66% all the other religion in the world…” Finally, he says, “But, when I discovered ‘my soul’ I found that I am a 100% artist.” For each religion that he names, he was seen dressed in a culturally significant garment.
The actor’s post comes days after playback singer Sonu Nigam in a series of tweets described the use of loudspeakers as hooliganism and termed the call for prayer ‘forced religiousness’ and ‘gundagardi.’
