Watch: India’s only active volcano erupting

PORT BLAIR: India’s only active volcano which is located in Andaman Islands in January. Coast guard has given the video of steam, smoke and some red lava that discharged from the volcano at Barren Island for about a 140 kilometres north east of Port Blair.

According to NDTV, The footage had been recorded to examine the eruption by the Indian Coast Guard. The video had been recorded with the help of a night vision device that cannot records so a mobile phone was kept beside to it to capture the footage with its camera.

That can be called as “True Indian jugaad.”

The volcano last erupted nearly a decade ago. Its first recorded eruption dates back to 1787 but around 150 years ago the last massive large scale eruption occurred.

“During the daytime, only ash clouds were observed. However after sundown, the team observed red lava fountains spewing from the crater into the atmosphere and hot lava flows streaming down the slopes of the volcano,” said a statement from the National Institute of Oceanography.
