Watch: India’s first transgender police officer

Chennai: History created in India by a Transgender, as she became India’s first transgender sub-inspector in Dharmapuri district in Tamil Nadu. She is the first transsexual to go into the uniform service in India.

According to DNA, K Prithika Yashini, 26 year- old, completed her training at TN Police Academy on Friday and reported on duty at the office of Dharmapuri Superintendent of Police Bandi Gangadhar on Sunday. She didn’t spoke with media without the permission of her senior officers and left.

She said, “I am very happy for completing the training. It went well. Everybody was very cooperative and understanding.”
