Jalandhar: Former JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar on Tuesday demanded judicial probe into the killings of 8 SIMI members to unearth the truth.
The Bhopal police on Monday gunned down eight SIMI undertrials in alleged encounter in the outskirts of Madhya Pradesh.
Addressing the gathering at the Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall at Jalandhar, accompanied by students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, Kanhaiya doubts over the encounter and demanded a judicial enquiry into the alleged killing.
“If we think rationally, the claims made by police are unbelievable. How is it possible that all eight SIMI members fled together and were gunned down at a same spot? It’s a matter of investigation and a judicial probe should be conducted,” said Kumar.
Kumar, as per Indian Express reports, furthered that an atmosphere of fear was being created for minorities in the country and sought unity of Dalits and Minorities.
