New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday downplayed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed against him on alleged charges of sedition, saying he has immense faith in the Indian judicial system as there is no case against him.
A PIL has been filed in Allahabad High Court against Owaisi under Section 124 (A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Owaisi had stirred a row on Sunday with his remark that he won’t raise slogan of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ to prove his loyalty to the nation.
Owaisi’s comments came in wake of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat’s suggestion that the new generation needs to be taught to chant slogans hailing mother India. Bhagwat’s comments came against the backdrop of the row over alleged anti-India sloganeering in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus on February 9.
