Week-long ‘Festival of Innovations’ to start at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi : A total of 65 grassroots innovations will be part of the week-long Festival of Innovations to be held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan from March 12 to 19.

The festival is being organised by Rashtrapati Bhavan in collaboration with the National Innovation Foundation.

The highlights of an exhibition of grassroots innovations are anti-molestation device worn on wrist; alert switch in bus/auto rickshaw for the safety of women; posture correcting chair; rain water syringe for water conservation; simple flushing mechanism for public urinals; foot operated page turning device for differently abled; height adjustable wash basin; a wrapper picker etc.

President Pranab Mukherjee has extended tremendous support to the innovation movement in the country ever since assumption of office, especially by encouraging setting up of innovation clubs in all institutions of higher learning and introducing annual residency programmes for grassroots innovators in Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The week-long ‘Festival of Innovations’ will witness a number of exhibitions; roundtable discussions on different topics related to innovations with national and international participation; a talk by Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi; an award for Gandhian Young Technological Innovation; Visitor’s Awards to Central Universities, including in the field of innovation; a meeting of Innovation Clubs set up in institutions of higher education across the country; a workshop for children and a hackathon to develop applications useful to society etc.

The Exhibition of Innovations will remain open between 10:00 a.m to 17:00 p.m from March 12-19 for the public. All visitors to the Mughal Gardens will be able to visit the Exhibition.
