Welfare scheme of minorities stopped, budget frozen

Hyderabad: Govt. of Telangana has frozen the budget of the Dept. of Minorities Welfare which effected many welfare schemes including Shaadi Mubarak Scheme. It is understood that due to the weak financial position, instructions have been issued to the Finance Dept. not to release budget of Minorities Department.

It may be mentioned that more than 7000 applications of Shaadi Mubarak Scheme are pending. Poor persons are making rounds of District Minority Welfare Officer’s offices every day. The officials of the Dept. told that so long as budget is not released from Finance Dept., the amounts will not be deposited in the accounts of the beneficiaries. If the budget is not released soon, it is likely that less than half of the allocated budget could be only be utilized.
