Aligarh: A woman in Aligarh District of Uttar Pradesh poured burning hot water on his husband Salman, while he was asleep as he would refuse to shave off his beard for religious obligations.
The incident occurred on Thursday at Jamalpur area in Aligarh. Salman was admitted to the hospital with severe burn injuries, DH reported.
Police informed that he had married Nagma, a resident of Khaidori village in the district, about six months back.
The couple would have a lot of fights between them as Salman, due to his love for Sunnah, would refuse to shave off his beard. But Nagma wanted him to cut it, sources said.
Nagma allegedly poured hot water on Salman, when he was asleep. As Salman cried in pain, the neighbours gathered and took him to a hospital.
He was later shifted to the Medical College hospital in Aligarh town for treatment, his condition is reportedly critical, according to the doctors of Medical College.
A case has been registered at Quarsi police station in this regard, the police said. Nagma is yet to be arrested. “We are investigating the matter…we will take action if the allegations turn out to be correct,” said a senior district police official in Aligarh.
