Will light up nation by 2022: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi : Asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA) government at the Centre will adhere by its poll promise of providing electricity to every house of the nation Union Minister for Power and Coal said that he will complete the task by 2022.
In interview given to Mr. Jagadeesh Chandra, Head of ETV News, on the popular ‘The J C Show’, Goyal said that the nation is benefiting from the implementation of schemes based on Prime Minister Modi’s vision.

“Government has promised to provide electricity to every house by 2022 and we will fulfil our promise,” said Goyal.

“Now, there is no dearth of coal in India for thermal power plants. During Congress time these power plants were suffering due to shortage of coals. We sorted out the issues and now power plants are producing electricity with efficient use of domestic coals,” he added.

Goyal further emphasised on another initiative taken by his Ministry, Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana (Uday) Yojana and said that it is a scheme initiated by the Centre to involve all state governments and banks to benefit the nation.

Moving on, Goyal added that import of coal under NDA rule has reduced.

“In last financial year, the government saved 24 thousand crore rupees from import of Coals. And this year it has been expected to save 40 thousand crore rupees. Due to this the government is saving 6 billion foreign currencies,” said Goyal. (ANI)
