Without BC Commission’s recommendation, reservations uncertain – Zahid Ali Khan

Hyderabad: Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily told that 12% reservations for Muslims are not certain without the recommendations of BCs Commission. He pointed out that when Telangana Movement was in full swing, TRS had made a promise that 12% reservation for Muslims would be given within 4 months of assuming power but after the lapse of more than a year, Govt. did not take any action to fulfill its promise. The Siasat Urdu Daily therefore has been raising its voice for the past one month. People of Telangana, especially the Muslims had supported TRS in assuming power. The CM is well acquainted with the issues of the Muslims. He is a very sympathetic and secular leader. There is no parallel of the welfare activities done to the Muslims to strengthen them in the fields of education and employment. Even after the lapse of 15-months of TRS rule in Telangana, there seems to be no interest in providing reservations to Muslims.

These thoughts were expressed by Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily while delivering presidential speech in the Mushaira held as part of the annual function of Zinda Dilan-e-Hyderabad. When he invited the attention of Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Dy. CM of Telangana towards Muslims reservation, the entire audience applauded with the echoes of clapping. Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told the CM to constitute BCs Commission to ensure reservations to Muslims. So long as this is not done, reservation to Muslims would be uncertain. He categorically said that the Muslims are not begging. They depend on the blessings of Allah (SWT). He provides us food. He made a reference to the Muslim youths who went to Gulf countries in the 1970’s and increased our foreign exchange reserves.

Replying to the speech of Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Dy. CM of Telangana State, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali told that the CM of Telangana has made a promise to provide 12% reservation to Muslims which he would certainly fulfill. Since BJP is in power at the Center, matters are being delayed. He made a reference to Shaadi Mubarak Scheme, Overseas Scholarship Scheme and other welfare scheme for minorities and admitted that due to the Hindu-Muslim unity, Telangana Movement got strengthened. The Govt. of Telangana would certainly promote Ganga-Jamuna Civilization. He mentioned that KCR issued stern instructions to the officials for maintaining Law and Order during Bonal, Ganesh Utsav and Eid-ul-Azha. Elaborate police arrangement was made not to obstruct the transport of big animals to the city during Eid-ul-Azha festival. The Govt. also made arrangements for the Hajj Pilgrims.
