Woman among three held with cache of illegal arms

New Delhi: Three persons, including the woman kingpin, were arrested allegedly with a big haul of illegal weapons including carbines, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Special Cell of the Delhi Police apprehended the trio from Dilshad Garden area in northeast Delhi this morning, said a senior police officer.

The team has seized 30 countrymade weapons from the accused, including two automatic carbines of 7.65 mm, seven semi-automatic pistols of 9 mm, two revolvers of 7.65 mm and 19 semi-automatic pistols of 7.65 mm, said P S Kushwah, DCP (Special Cell).

The recovered weapons are engraved with ‘Made in Etaliya’, ‘Made in Japan’ and ‘Made in USA’ markings, he added. Out of these two carbines and 23 Pistols have one spare magazine each.

The three accused, 30-year-old woman Miskin, Jabir (30) and Balu (35), were nabbed from near GTB Hospital Chowk, Dilshad Garden, where they had come to deliver a huge cache of semi-automatic weapons to their contacts, said the officer.

“The trio came in an e-rickshaw with a big black coloured battery. They were also carrying bags on their shoulders.

When the person they had to give the weapons to didn’t turn up, they decided to leave but were overpowered by the team,” said Kushwah.

On checking of the black coloured battery, 20 semi-automatic pistols were recovered and the rest of the weapons were recovered from their bags, he said.

Their interrogation revealed that the weapons were purchased from Pyarelal alias Sikander who belongs to Madhya Pradesh and some were to be supplied in Delhi and the rest to Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.

“Earlier also Miskin and Jabir had supplied arms in Delhi NCR and UP on several occasions,” said the officer.

The carbines were sold for Rs 50,000 each while the pistols were sold for Rs 20,000 each.
