New Delhi: A woman was arrested allegedly for impersonating a candidate in KVS primary teacher recruitment examination at a public school here, police said on Monday.

On Saturday, the Principal of a public school told police that a woman was caught by the invigilator for appearing in the examination in place of a real candidate.

“The police found dissimilarities between the admit card of the real candidate and the identity card produced by the accused woman,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Milind Mahadeo Dumbere said.

“The police also recovered a mobile phone, one copper wire, doctor tape and earphones from her possession,” Dumbere added.

During the interrogation, she told the police that she was a Graduate and came into contact with one Sunny at Panipat. Sunny introduced her to Ajay, Anil and Jonny, who run a racket of placing fake candidates in competitive examinations on behalf of real candidates, Dumbere said.

She further disclosed that the gang members were inspired by a Bollywood movie “Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.” and prepared specially designed clothes to hide the electronic gadgets.

“The gang members exchanged the code of examination paper and provided answer key of it over the phone. The gang members managed to get the paper out from any centre, once set of question papers arrived at examination centres,” Dumbere said.

The accused was promised that she would be given Rs 1 lakh for appearing in the examination.

While all the gang members are absconding, the real candidate along with her husband is also on the run, the police said.
