Bhopal: A 33-year-old woman today allegedly killed her two minor daughters and tried to end her own life at Bilkhiria near here, police said.
Savita Bai, the woman, killed her daughters Kanchan (8) and Aarti (3) with a sickle, and tried to hang herself from the ceiling of her house in Adampuri area, Bilkhiria City Superintendent of Police Rashmi Kharya said.
However, she was rescued by some people and taken to the the government-run Hamadia hospital and now her condition is stated to be stable, the police officer said.
Bodies of two girls has been sent for autopsy, she said.
Prima facie it appeared that the woman took the extreme step following a family quarrel, Kharya said adding the woman’s husband runs a small grocery store and the family is poor.
“We will record Savita’s statement when she recovers and we are also questioning her neighbours,” she said.
