Woman, nephew arrested for Ghaziabad murder

Ghaziabad: A woman and her nephew have been arrested for allegedly being involved in the killing of a 51-year-old woman here, police said.

According to Sahibabad police, the case of murder of Premwati, who was shot dead by three motorcycle-borne masked assailants three days back, was cracked following a tip-off that led to the arrest of one Deepak Bhadana and his aunt, Preeti.

Sahibabad SHO Haridayal Yadav said that following information in this regard a duo on a motorcycle was arrested from the Bhopura Loni-Raod trisection at around 8 AM.

Upon being interrogated, Deepak confessed to his involvement in the murder.

He told police that following the drowning 10 months ago of her two-year-old son, his aunt Preeti was suspecting that Premwati might have had a hand in the matter.

To avenge the killing of his aunt’s son, he along with his friends Gulbeer and Vipin hatched a plot and shot Premwati on October 8. The woman later succumbed to her wounds at a hospital.

Police recovered the motorcycle, one live and one empty cartridge and a countrymade .315 bore weapon which they said was used in the offence.

The arrested duo has been charged under Section 302 of IPC, police said, adding that Gulbeer and Vipin will be nabbed soon.
