Darbhanga: A woman, who had gone for treatment of her son at Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), was allegedly raped by a hospital attendant at a private clinic at Beta chowk in Bihar’s Darbhanga district late last night, the police said today.
As per the statement recorded by the women’s police station, the victim said she had come to the hospital for treatment of the fractured leg of her five-year-old son, but a person, whom she named as Bipin Kumar, working at the orthopaedic department, took her to a nearby private clinic for getting her a job of a maid and raped her, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Dilnawaz Ahmad said.
When the woman raised an alarm, attendants of patients and security guards caught hold of Bipin Kumar and handed him over to Beta police station. The accused was later sent to jail, the SDPO said.
The police officer said the victim, who is in her late 20s and belong to Samastipur district, got her child admitted on December 23, 2016 for leg fracture.
A medical examination was conducted upon the woman today, he said.
Hospital Deputy Superintendent Dr Baleshwar Sagar said it was being probed as to whether the accused Bipin Kumar was the staff of the ward or was working there illegally.
