Haryana: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly been raped in her hospital bed just after giving birth, in an intensive care unit in a hospital.
The women was recovering after giving birth via caesarean section at a private hospital in Bahaduragarh when the man, getting out of a car, talking on the phone and walking in to the ICU at Brahm Shakti Sanjivani Hospital. He peeped through the curtains on patients’ bed raped her.
The Police is studying the CCTV footage to identify the man The footage was filmed at around 3.30am, which shows the man reportedly gaining entry after telling a guard that he is a doctor.
He is then seen moving around several wards and checking the patients. He was not questioned by any of the hospital staff for his presence or purpose in the ICU.
The victim said the man has raped her in her hospital bed, and despite her screams no one came to her aid.
A relative of the woman told NDTV that no one responded to her screams.
‘She is my nephew’s wife and she gave birth to a girl yesterday and was admitted to the hospital,’ she added.
‘I was with her till late 9:45 pm and then left because the hospital staff said no one was allowed to stay the night in the ICU. There was nobody in the ICU when the man entered.
‘All the patients were sleeping. My daughter-in-law screamed but nobody came, neither any nurse nor any doctor.’
The Police have released the footage as they are searching the attacker. The hospital said an investigation was underway.
The hospital spokesperson said there are eight beds with patients on either side, but nobody heard the noise.
