A 52-year old woman, Vardhanamma, has received serious injuries when she fell down from a two-wheeler, when two offenders snatched her gold chain at Malakpet late Tuesday night. The incident took place when the woman and her husband were returning home on a scooter after attending a function at Nampally.
According to Malakpet Inspector P Sattiah, the chain snatchers followed the couple on a motorcycle, and snatched the three-tola gold chain at the flyover. When the culprits pulled the chain, the woman and her husband fell down from the two wheeler. The women received injuries on her head and hands. Her husband and the local people rushed her to the nearby Yashoda hospital. Doctors said that she was being treated in the ICU and she is out of danger.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) A. Ravinder visited the woman in the hospital. He told reporters that special teams had been formed to arrest the offenders.
It may be recalled that recently, one woman died in a similar chain snatching incident near Osmania University. (NSS)
