Woman seeking YouTube ‘likes’ killed boyfriend in stunt

Minnesota: A 19-year-old girl was charged for killing her boyfriend with second-degree manslaughter on Wednesday. The couple was performing a stunt to become famous on YouTube as per the media reports.

Monalisa Perez told that her boyfriend Pedro Ruiz III, 22 wanted to make a prank YouTube video of her shooting at a book he was holding in front of his chest. On Monday evening, Perez tweeted that the couple had agreed to carry out “one of the most dangerous videos ever,” reported AP.

“I and Pedro are probably going to shoot one of the most dangerous videos ever. His idea, not mine,” @MonalisaPerez5 said in the tweet.

Unfortunately, the prank went wrong, and the bullet went through the book and into Ruiz’s chest, killing him before he could be provided with any medical aid. According to the station, Perez fired from about a foot away.

Perez told authorities that Ruiz thought the prank would work because he’d shot a different book and the bullet did not penetrate before. The couple would often make prank videos under the name La Monalisa. They have a 3-year-old child together and she is pregnant with the second one.

As per the reports, Perez could face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
