Kanpur: In a suspected dowry death case, a 29-year-old woman was found hanging from the hook of the ceiling while her two minor daughters were found dead on the bed at their house in Galla Mandi area here today.
According to a complaint lodged by the victim’s family, the woman, identified as Neelam, was married to Sunil five years back. But after three years, they started living separately following dowry demands by her husband, police said.
The woman’s father went to her house this morning and found her hanging from the hook of the ceiling, while her two daughters, Sonam (4) and Muskan (3), were found lying on the bed with rope marks on their throat, they said.
Neelam’s family alleged that her husband met her a few days back and they had a quarrel. A case of dowry is already registered against Sunil, police said.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by the woman’s family, a case has been registered against her husband and in-laws, they said, adding the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
