Work on war footings for 12% reservation for Muslims – Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan

Hyderabad: It is the responsibility of the ruling parties in the Center and in the States to provide reservations to weaker sections in economic and educational fields. The deprivation of the weaker sections from reservations is the proof of failure of Govt. It will be a stumbling block in the functioning of democracy and secularism. These thoughts were expressed at the 181st colloquium held at Chandram, Himayat Nagar organized by Telangana Resource Center on the issue of giving 12% reservation to Muslims. Mr. Anwar Khan, Convener of SC, ST, BC and Muslim Front conducted the meeting.  Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Managing Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily, Prof. P.L. Vishvashwar Rao, Maulana Syed Tariq Qadri, Mr. Hamid Mohammed Khan, President of Jamat-e-Islami of Telangana. Mr. Sanaullah Khan, Convener of SC, ST, BC and Muslim Front and others attended the meeting.

Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan advised the Muslims to work on war footings for getting 12% reservations. He recalled that TRS in its election promise had proclaimed that it will provide reservation to the Muslim on the basis of their population. This promise still remains to be fulfilled even though a year has lapsed. He told that a mass movement is required for achieving this goal.

Mr. Veda Kumar told that by providing reservation to Muslims, their educational backwardness could be eradicated. Prof. Vishvashwar Rao told that it is the responsibility of ruling party to impart equal justice to all the sections of society but TRS Govt. of Telangana has set aside all the norms. He told that reservation is the right of the Muslims. Mr. Tariq Qadri told that unless TRS Govt. provides 12% reservation its promises could not be believed. Maulana Hamid Mohammed Khan told that Govt. of Telangana is misleading the Muslims by constituting Sudhir Committee to look into the issue of 12% reservation for the Muslims. He further told that Govt. of Telangana can provide 12% reservation to Muslims without constituting any committee. The speakers of the meeting decided to launch a massive movement by organizing press conferences, round table conferences, public meetings, poster campaigns and awareness campaigns. Telangana Resource Center hosted Iftar party on this occasion for the audience.
