‘Ye Hain Mohabbatein’ under fire in Pakistan

Karachi : A Pakistani private channel has drawn a lot of criticism from Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) over the popular TV show, ‘Ye Hain Mohabbatein.’

According to an official statement released on Saturday, in the June 1 episode of the Balaji Telefilms produced soap, originally broadcasted on Star Plus, the characters were shown ‘doing indecent activities,’ which violated the Electronic Media Ordinance 2015, reports the Dawn.

Hence, the TV channel has been given a show-cause notice by PEMRA.

“The TV channel had been warned earlier as well when it showed questionable scenes on April 17, 2016. The channel was asked not to air dramas that would go against the rules set by Pemra,” the statement read.

Pemra says if the channel failed to provide an answer till June 18, the body will take further steps on its own.

The serial revolves around a man named Raman Bhalla, who divorces his wife Shagun after he discovers her affair with his boss, his second wife Ishita and daughter Ruhi. The drama follows the ups and downs of the love lives of these central characters. (ANI)
