Young farmer commits suicide in Meerut

Meerut: A 25-year-old farmer committed suicide allegedly because he was unable to repay bank loans of Rs 1.5 lakh at Bhagwanpur village here.

Kithour Police stataion SHO Summer Singh Yadav said Vikas committed suicide yesterday by consuming poison but “we are investigating why he killed himself”.

Vikas’s brother claimed he committed suicide because he was unable to repay loans to two banks and had received a notice on May 20 in this regard.

He said Vikas was depressed after he received the notice and consumed poison at his tubewell.

Meanwhile, BJP Vyapari Prakosth convenr Vineet Aggrawal met the aggrieved family and said his party would hit the streets on the farmers’ plight.

He attacked the state government over the issue and demanded a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the kin of the victim’s family and a job for his younger brother.
