Younis Khan should focus on Test cricket, insists Wasim Akram

Karachi, Sept.21 : Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram has advised out-of-favour cricketer Younis Khan to stop worrying about playing in the ODI format and instead focus on Test cricket.

Akram said that Pakistan require the 37-year-old in the longer format, as he had been performing consistently well in that format, the Express Tribune reports.

Emphasizing on the miscommunication between the player and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Akram said there is a clear communication gap due to which Younis keep on suggesting that he wants to play in ODIs.

The former player further suggested that the selectors and Younis should hold a meeting to discuss the issue.

Younis has scored 8814 runs in 101 Tests, including 30 hundreds and 29 fifties.

Younis also became the fifth Pakistan batsman and 62nd overall to play 100 Tests during the second match of the Test series against Sri Lanka in June.

But, Younis have largely been ignored by the selectors in ODIs since mid 2013.He was once again ignored for the ODIs against Zimbabwe, starting from October 1.(ANI)
