Youth stabbed to death over drunken argument during Holi celebrations

New Delhi: A 25-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death over a drunken altercation on Holi by another youth in southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri area, police said on Friday. The victim has been identified as Nazim Khan, a resident of Prahladpur area, they said.

According to police, Khan had gone to celebrate Holi on Thursday at his mother’s house in Govindpuri where a neighbour, identified as Chanchal alias Bauna (26), was also among the locals taking part in the revelries.

An argument broke out between Khan and Bauna when the former allegedly smeared some mud-like substance on him, a police official said. The duo, who were both in an inebriated state, soon got into a scuffle during which Bauna produced a knife and allegedly stabbed Khan several times, the official said. Khan was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead, the official added.

Locals called police following the incident and the accused, who is involved in a few other criminal cases, was arrested. A case of murder has been registered in this connection, the official said.
