‘Rakshak bane bhakshak’ Army of UP police vandalize properties

Muzaffarnagar: CCTV footage showing Uttar Pradesh Police personnel’s Vandalism in a crackdown on protesting citizens have emerged on the Internet.

Wearing helmets, wielding batons, these protectors turned assaulters can be seen barging into public properties and smashing glass panes and other structures, TN reports.

The footages rebuff claims by top police officers in the state who continue to claim that protestors vandalized the properties in the state as well as other parts of the country.

So far around 20 people have been killed in UP alone with several other cases of police atrocities that have surfaced from the state, some also against minors.

Earlier a purported video showed a police officer in Kanpur firing at protesters in a market place contrary to UP Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh’s claims that his force had not fired even a “single bullet” during the protests.

Opposition party Congress pounced at Yogi government for police atrocities and lawless state.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has called the atrocities against minors “despicable and monstrous”.

“Words fail me. This is beyond unbearable, monstrous, execrable, despicable. There’s nothing you can adequately say about people in the uniforms of power torturing defenceless children. They should be jailed as the criminals they are,” Tharoor tweeted.

Another video has also emerged out where an army of police personnel can be seen vandalizing properties in Kanpur over protests against CAA.
