2 held with US currency worth over Rs 3 crore from Guwahati railway station

Guwahati: A train checking party of Guwahati GRPS on Saturday seized 540,000 US Dollars, which is around Rs 3.75 crore, from two passengers at the Guwahati railway station.

The two men identified as Golianmung and Thang Piang were nabbed from platform no. 2 of Guwahati railway station at 10:45 am, railway officials said.

According to officials, the duo boarded the train in New Jalpaiguri railway station, West Bengal and deboarded in Guwahati railway station from UP Saraighat Express and were planning to go to Manipur by bus.

Both of them are residents of Manipur.

The GRPS team has handed over both persons to Enforcement Directorate officials for follow up action.
