2019 Elections: A quick peek of famous Bollywood personalities entering Politics

New Delhi: This year Lok Sabha General elections has got quite some Bollywood flavor to it with many prominent personalities trying their luck in Politics.

Is this a start of a new wave in Indian Politics? Will this be a game changer against those senior politicians? Well, we will have to wait and watch whether these prominent actors will carve a niche for themselves in Politics as well.

The Indian film industries has given us some amazing actors now trying their luck in politics with the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Here are some of the major film/TV actors waiting to contest the upcoming polls.

Prakash Raj
Prakash Raj is well-known face of Tollywood as well as Bollywood known for his serious, hilarious roles.

He is now contesting independently from the seat of Bengaluru Central.

Urmila Matondkar
This famous ‘Rangeela actress’ Urmila Matondkar has recently joined the Indian National Congress and is set to contest from the Mumbai North constituency of Maharashtra.

Urmila Matondkar said, “I am taking my first step in active politics. I am from a family that has shaped my political views based on the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Patel. It is another matter that despite being from an academics-oriented family, I joined films. But I had social awareness right from childhood.”

Nikhil Gowda
Karnataka’s CM HD Kumaraswamy has decided to field his actor son Nikhil Gowda from Mandya in Karnataka.

Nusrat Jahan
This eminent Bengali film actress Nusrat Jahan has joined Mamata Banerjee’s team and will now contest from the constituency of Basirhat, West Bengal. She has worked for several Bengali hit films like Khoka 420, Love Express, Zulfiqar etc.

Mimi Chakraborty
This Jalpaiguri based Bengali film actress has also joined the Trinamool Congress and will contest from the Jadavpur constituency of West Bengal.

Pawan Kalyan
This well known Tollywood actor Pawan Kalyan from AP and brother of South Indian actor Chiranjeevi has formed his own political party Jana Sena party in the year 2016 and will now contest election from the constituency of Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram.

Shilpa Shinde
The former winner of Big Boss 11 Shilpa Sinde famously known as Angoori bhabi has joined Congress this year.

Arshi Khan
Well Arshi Khan also followed the footsteps of Shilpa Shinde and joined the Indian National Congress as the party’s vice president of Maharashtra.
