Srinagar: Three mlitants and civilian women were killed in an encounter in the Batmaloo area of Srinagar city while the Deputy Commandant of CRPF who also received injuries and is said to be critical.
The encounter started off between militants and security forces at the Firdousabad area of Batmaloo, Srinagar after security forces cordoned off the entire area upon receiving inputs of militants hiding in the area. When joint teams of security forces reached to the spot where the hiding spot, militants started firing on the security forces, thereby triggering an encounter.
However, a local lady from the adjacent area was caught in the cross-firing and died on the spot. She was later identified as Kousar Jan (45) of Batmaloo. Srinagar DGP Dilbagh Singh called her killing very unfortunate and expresses sympathy with the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, clashes also erupted in the entire area of Batmaloo Srinagar.
