Absconding Ghaziabad SHO yet to be traced

Ghaziabad: Laxmi Singh Chauhan, the absconding suspended Station House Officer (SHO) of the Link Road police station, accused of siphoning off Rs 65 lakh from the recovered money, is yet to be traced.

However, the police have found the car in which Chauhan was caught on CCTV cameras stuffing the loot money. The police recovered the car from the parking area of the Ghaziabad railway station.

“The car is registered in the name of some Dhiraj Bhardwaj,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sudhir Kumar Singh told IANS.

“We are conducting raids to trace her and 6-7 others, who were booked for criminal breach of trust after they made off with the money,” he said.

The police are trying to ascertain the identity of Dhiraj Bhardwaj, his connections with SHO Chauhan and how he reached the Link Road police station on the day of crime.

The Ghaziabad Police on September 24 suspended seven police personnel, including SHO Chauhan, for stealing Rs 60-65 lakh out of Rs 1 crore recovered from some executives who refilled ATMs with cash.
