Ahmedabad: 9 injured, 2 critical in communal clash over burial ground

Ahmedabad: A clash broke out between members of two communities over burial ground near Viramgam town in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad district on Sunday, leaving nine people injured and 2 critical. After the filing of 2 FIRs, 15 persons have been detained.

According to the Scroll, few members of the Muslim community objected to women from another community drying clothes on the wall of a burial ground in Bhathipura area, which resulted in a clash. Two people sustained fractures and seven sustained minor injuries. Some reportedly hurled stones at police personnel who were trying to bring the situation under control.

Police fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd and intensified security in the area.
