AIMPLB responsible for Triple Talaq Bill: Shahi Imam

New Delhi: Reacting strongly upon the Triple Talaq Bill, Shahi Imam Maulana Syed Ahmed Bukhari said that All India Muslim Personal Law Board is responsible for the Bill. Now it is going to do the second mistake by announcing to move to court without consulting scholars of all schools of thought.

As reported by Inquilab, Shahi Imam dubbed Supreme Court’s decision to declare triple talaq as unconstitutional and illegal as the failure of Muslim Personal Law Board. He said during court proceedings, Board and its authorities had got a chance to make any clear stand regarding Talaq-e-Biddat. They should have also mentioned Talaq-e-Hasan and Talaq-e-Ahsan but they insisted on Talaq-e-Biddat or Triple talaq alone.

Imam Bukhari said Muslim Personal Law Board was established to stop unwarranted intervention of government in religious affairs. But the Board has failed in its duty and is not able to protect religious affairs from government intervention.

Imam Bukhari said Personal Law Board authorities has divided Muslims into Deobandi, Barelvi, Sunni, Wahabi, Shia and Ahle Hadeeth; thus making a mockery of the community. He further said anti-Muslim forces are trying to disintegrate family system of Muslim by creating suspicion among Muslim men and women. If the forces succeed in their nefarious plans the family life of Muslims will completely be ruined. If AIMPB wants to move to court it should call the representatives of all schools of thought and form a concrete strategy after a brainstorming session, suggested Shahi Imam.
