Anti-CAA violence: UP DGP demands ban on Popular Front of India

Lucknow: Alleging that Popular Front of India was behind the violent protest against NRC which was organized in Lucknow, UP govt. recommended to the Centre for imposing a ban on this organisation.

DGP of UP, O.P Singh sent a letter to Central govt. recommending the ban.

It is reported that most of the members of the Popular Front of India were the former members of the banned organisation, Student Islamic Movement.

It may be mentioned that after the protest meetings held in UP, President of Popular Front of India, Waseem Ahmed was arrested by the police.

Popular Front of India was formed on 22 November 2006.
