Asaduddin highlights police brutalities against CAA protesters

New Delhi: In Lok Sabha, Asaduddin Owaisi, MIM MP of Hyderabad claimed that one boy lost his eye sight whereas, girls were beaten up while they were protesting against CAA in Jamia Millia Islamia.

He alleged that Govt. of India is harassing the students who are protesting against CAA, NRC and NPR.

Amidst uproar in LS, Owaisi continued his address and said, ‘we are with the students of Jamia. One boy lost his eye, our daughters were beaten up. People who committed inhuman behavious have no shame. Firing is being continued on the agitating students’

Pokhriyal’s response

Earlier, replying to a question put by Owaisi, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank told that there were reports of violence at Jamia and AMU but no such incident was reported in Allahabad University.

Pokhriyal further told that the central universities are autonomous educational institutions. They take decisions with permission from Academic and Executive Councils. Therefore, they are authorized to deal with such cases.

Pokhriyal also said that Jamia Millia has applied for the constitution of high level committee to investigate the incident of violence occurred on the campus. The matter has been referred to the concerned department for taking appropriate action. HRD minister informed that AMU and Allahabad University did not make any request for probe.
