Azam Khan, Wasim Rizvi booked in a fresh case

Azam Khan’s aide Fasahat Ali Shanu claimed that like the previous ones, this case has also been lodged at the instance of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders who have turned vindictive against Azam Khan after he won the election.

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party MP Azam Khan, his wife and son, Shia Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi, his Sunni Waqf Board counterpart Zafar Ahmed Farooqui, BJP MLC Mazhar Ali Khan aka Bukkal Nawab, along with others, were booked in a fresh case of cheating, dishonesty and criminal conspiracy in Rampur on Monday.

On the basis of a complaint by a cleric Zameer Naqvi, the FIR was lodged at the Azim Nagar police station of Rampur. The complainant accused Azam Khan and others of fraudulently changing the records of enemy property in Rampur, so that it could be transferred to Maulana Jauhar Ali University where Khan is the chancellor.

Hindustan Times quoted Rajeev Chaudhary, station house officer (SHO) of Azim Nagar police station, as saying: “Member of Parliament Azam Khan, his wife (Tazeen Fatima), his son Abdullah Azam, Shia Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi and Sunni Waqf Board chairman Zafar Ahmed Farooqui and five other people, including Mazhar Ali Khan aka Bukkal Nawab (BJP MLC) have been booked under 420 (cheating), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) and other sections of IPC (Indian Penal Code).”

A team has been formed by the district police to investigate the matter.
