Ban on plastic items from next month, GoI issues orders

Hyderabad: The order issued by Govt. of India banning use of plastic articles from 2nd October 2019 might create crisis in plastic industry. Many industries may be closed down.

Govt. of India have issued orders to all the industries which manufacture plastic articles to stop such production.

Some of the industrialists say that banning unhealthy plastic items is the need of the hour since plastic items cannot be destroyed easily.

It may be mentioned that Facebook has imposed a ban on the use of plastic bottles on its campus.

As per the orders of the Govt., all such plastic items which are thrown away after using them once will not be allowed to produce. These items include use and throw utensils, plastic bags below 70 microns, 200 ml water bottles etc.

Mr. Mohammed Abdul Aleem, Joint Secretary, TS and AP Plastic Manufacturers’ Association told that in TS, there are about 30 thousand medium and small industries which will get affected by this decision. He also told that the industries which prepare industrial items as per rules will not be affected. The use of plastic bags below 70 microns will be completely banned.

Mr. Abdul Aleem further told that plans are being formulated to create awareness among the public to popularize the use of standard plastic materials. The decision of Govt. of India will benefit major industries.
