Be Ready for civic body polls: Nagi Reddy tells officials

Hyderabad: State Election Commissioner V Nagi Reddy today said that they are ready to hold elections for municipalities and municipal corporations in the state. He launched a training program for officials concerned at MCRHRD in the city here.

On the occasion, the state election commissioner said that there are 129 Municipalities and 3 corporations in the state going for polls. The election body will release a final list of voters for the polls. Due to previous polls, the arrangements for upcoming polls for civic bodies were delayed, he said. Stating that he will hold a preparatory meeting with political parties, he asked the collectors to do so as part of holding the polls. We are supposed to hold the polls in a transparent and hassle-free manner, Nagi Reddy said. On July 15 the officials have to take opinion from people on polling stations.

He informed that the polls are formed part of democracy and explained on holding of polls, voter list, photo voter list in the wards, reservations allocated towards, polling stations, facilities during the polls and security at the polling stations.

Nagi Reddy said that they are taking the previous amount towards nomination fee from those in the fray of the polls. SC, ST and BC candidates fighting the polls have to pay Rs 2500 while the general candidates have to pay Rs 5000 for the same, he said.
