Bengaluru bus conductor clears UPSC, thrills internet

BENGALURU: Despite previous failures, 29-year-old bus conductor with Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) cleared both 2019 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Prelims and Mains by studying only five hours daily.

According to Bangalore Mirror, Madhu NC is now is preparing for interview slated for March 25.

But these moments of joy haven’t come easy.

He lives in the small town of Malavalli in Mandya, Karnataka and is the first in his family to go to school.

At the age of 19, Madhu had to start working as a conductor at the BMTC to support his family.

But, he pursued his desire to further study and completed his education through distance learning.

Now, he has a Masters degree in Political Science.

Focus & dedication

Despite working as a conductor for eight hours a day, he doesn’t rest unlike others but continues the journey to his dreams.

For the first time, Madhu in 2014 appeared for the Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) exam but couldn’t clear it.

In 2018, Mashu decided to sit for the UPSC exam but again did not make it to the list.

These failures did not deter him, rather they inspired him to do better.

He again appeared for the exam and finally cleared it.

“I always wanted to achieve something big in life,” Madhu asserted.

Internet is thrilled

Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka CN Ashwath Narayan tweeted with best wishes for Madhu.
