Bizman cheats Taj Banjara of Rs 12 lakh in unpaid bill

Hyderabad: A Visakhapatnam-based businessman who under-stayed at Taj Banjara on Banjara Hills area fled from the place without paying room rent bills amounting to Rs 12 lakh.

Realising the con, the hotel’s GM Hithendra Sarma filed a complaint at the Banjara Hills police station.

According to the police, the businessman, Akkimsetti Sankar Narayan, had come to Hyderabad on business purposes last year. For the 102 days of his stay, the bill totaled Rs 25,96,693, out of which he made a part payment of Rs 13, 62,149.

“On April 4, Akkimsetti requested the hotel for a single room on a long-term basis as he was on business trip in the city. He was allotted a room for which he paid part amount of Rs 13.62 lakh. Thereafter, he kept delaying the rest of the payment,” Banjara Hills police Inspector N Kalinga Rao said.

Akkimsetti locked the room on April 15 and left without informing the hotel staff. He
remained untraceable, which led the hotel management to suspect that he had absconded, police said. His phone also remained switched off. The hotel management then filed a criminal complaint. The police registered a case under Section 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 427 of the IPC and have started a search for the accused.
