BJP IT cell chief claims Shaheen Bagh protesters paid Rs 500/day

NEW DELHI: Making a sensational claim, BJP’s I-T cell chief Amit Malviya  on Thursday said that Shaheen Bagh protest is sponsored by Congress.

To support his claim, he posted a video on Twitter of conversation between two people alleging that the women protesters are taking Rs 500-700 and Biryani for simply being there.

The men in the video together claim that “The landlords of the shops across the street (Shaheen Bagh) have waived off the rent for the shops. They said if the shops cannot function, how will they pay the rent? The ladies sitting in the area work in shifts. They are getting money according to their shifts.”

They added,“Some get 500 a day and others get nearly 700. They have to do nothing, just sit there. They go to their house, cook food come back and sit here. Also, they are getting free Biryani, tea and all the other things here. They are sitting there with one-year old kids, all of this is Congress’ game.”

Shaheen Bagh has become an epicentre of anti-Citizenship Amendment Act and possible pan-India National Register of Citizens (NRC) protests as scores of people from different walk of life and religion making a beeline to express solidarity with the protesters.

Braving the freezing cold, hundreds of local women from all faiths sittingwith their kids and even small babies since on December 15 to press the demand for repealing the ‘discriminatory’ new citizenship law.

For the first time in Indian history, excluding Muslims, the CAA seeks to provide Indian nationality to Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Parsis, Jains, and Buddhists fleeing persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh on or before December 31, 2014.
