BJP led Govt falls, Maha CM Fadnavis resigns ahead of floor test

Mumbai: Soon after BJP led Government’s Dy CM Ajit resigned, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis resigns.

The move comes after the top court ordered floor test to be held within 24 hours and Ajit Pawar’s resignation from Dy CM post, HT reports.

Devendra Fadnavis fronted the media explaining how his party had the mandate to form the government.

“In elections clear majority was given to Mahayuti and BJP got maximum 105 seats. We contested with Shiv Sena, but this mandate was for BJP because BJP won 70 percent seats out of all seats we contested,” Fadnavis said.

He also told reporters that he did not have a majority after Ajit had resigned.

He said he hoped the Sena-NCP-Congress alliance would provide a stable government.

The Supreme Court Tuesday ordered floor test for Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday to prove his majority in the House saying there is a “possibility of horse trading” in case of delay.
