KALABURAGI: JDS-Congress, the two disparate parties formed for no other reason than to keep BJP out of rule faced denial of cabinet berths in July this year by the B.S. Yediyurappa government. Veto of berths became the prime reason for the collapse of JDS-Congress coalition.
The erroneous adjudication may soon haunt the B.S. Yediyurappa government as a bracket of aggrieved BJP MLAs are set to place a torpedo against the Yeduruppa Govt. boat even if the CM secures a majority in the Assembly in the December 5 by-polls.
A squad within BJP is said to have taken its position, which could make a strong bid to torpedo the Yediyurappa government and may place ‘Mallikarjun Kharge’ a prominent Congress leader from the Hyderabad-Karnataka region as CM.
BJP leaders after a hectic by-poll campaign are confident that the party may reign in at least eight seats. There is however a lurking danger ‘within’ with a group of BJP legislators aggrieved over being neglected and by the undue importance accorded to disqualified legislators.
Sources say the squad is awaiting the post-poll scenario when major political developments can be expected in the state. As per a legislator of Hyderabad-Karnataka, who is an active member of the squad, a group of ten legislators drawn from various districts have decided to strike at the opportune time as they feel they do not have a bright future in the party, especially after the entry of the disqualified legislators into the BJP.
MLAs drawn from Kalaburagi, which has been denied representation in the Cabinet for the first time since independence, are included in the squad.
