Black marketers get 1 year jail for selling PDS rice

Hyderabad: The judge of special court at Rajendarnagar Mr. Charles convicted two persons with rigorous imprisonment of 1 year for illegal transport of PDS rice.

The accused has been identified as Md Ahmed Khan ageing 28 years resident of Bahadurpura and Shaik Arif 20-year-old resident of Kishanbagh, who were transporting the PDS rice in an illegal manner.

K. Rajeshwar Reddy, Sub-Inspector of Police said that the accused two persons use to purchase the PDS rice from the ration card holders and transport it to various neighboring states. Both the accused were selling the rice at double rates compare to Hyderabad.

They were caught rend-handed to a city-based Asst. Civil Supply Officer while they were transporting 11.27 Quintal in a truck. Later, both of them were arrested by the Rajendarnagar police officers and sent to judicial custody.

After the investigation the concerned police officer have filed a charge sheet in the court, during the trial on Wednesday the special court have convicted both the accused with rigorous imprisonment and also fined with Rs. 1000 each.
