Blued launches Blued Queer Flicks

New Delhi: Blued, a gay dating and social networking app that has actively been involved in supporting and encouraging the LGBTQ community, has launched their first ever queer film making contest called Blued Queer Flicks.

The contest was put together with the aim to promote LGBTQ community and encourage their talent.

The contest will be followed by a screening scheduled to be taken place on June 8, 2019, in Delhi.

Over 60 entries have been received since the contest was launched in April. Out of the total received entries, there are 10 selected contestants whose short movies will be shown at the fest and the winners will be awarded the cash prizes and awards.

The movies are based on queer themes, struggles, love, fun, education and social perception; the filmmakers are budding independent filmmakers who are portraying their views through the lens. The videos will be featuring on Blued app for the people to watch and it will also have voting options where people can vote and share.

“The LGBTQI community has dealt with a lot in the last few years. It’s time that they had a voice and what better way to portray it than through films which will be showcased to the masses and gets a chance to be premiered at an International platform. Our focus has always been to promote the community and encourage these voices that need to be heard. Through Blued, we want to have an open dialogue, not with just the community but those who have a wrong opinion about this community. We hope to see more participation in BQF and addressing more issues through this platform”, said Sanyam Sharma – Marketing Director, Blued India.

The shortlisted movies address issues like Gay Love, Trans Struggles, Societal Stigma, GBTQ (Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer) issues, Faith in Love, Acceptance and Awareness and Dreams and Desire.

Blued has always supported the LGBTQI community and has been instrumental in educating the masses as well as the community about their rights. Blued had previously sponsored and delivered successful campaigns highlighting the after-course of Section 377 and Holi festival for gay men.
