BMW kills bike rider; it is 3rd offence by same driver

Hyderabad: An IT employee riding a two-wheeler was killed in a suspected hit-and-run case at Khanamet road under the jurisdiction of Madhapur police station last year in November. The incident took place on 24 November 2019 in the night hours when a BMW hit him.

The accused driver has been identified as Kondaveeti Ashwin a businessman and a resident of Ayyappa Society at Madhapur.

Cyberabad police said, “The BMW driver (registration number AP10AX6267), who was coming in the opposite direction at Khanamet road in Madhapur, was fully intoxicated when the accident took place. The driver fled from the spot after the accident. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was proclaimed dead on arrival.

While examining the suspect driver police found that the drunken limit was 185mg/100ml of blood whereas the legally permissible limit in India is only 30mg/100ml and also, he was also involved in other drunk and driving cases in Cyberabad limits twice in the year 2019. This was his third instance of drunken driving this year alone, which clearly proves that he as a habitual offender, said the Cyberabad traffic police official.

Moreover, on the police’s proposal to Regional Transport Authority (RTA) on Monday the concerned licensing authority (RTA of Rangareddy) suspended the Driving License of the accused Kondaveeti Ashwin permanently.
