Hyderabad: Bounce, India’s first and fastest-growing dockless scooter sharing service on Tuesday launched 2000 scooters in Hyderabad. In an event graced by Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary of I&C & IT, Telangana, the company made an official announcement to enable the city with Electric Vehicles and 10,000 scooters by June 2020. With this launch, Hyderabad will be the second-largest market for Bounce in India.

Accessibility and affordability have made Bounce one of the preferred modes of transport in every city it operates in, both for first and last-mile connectivity as well as a regular commute. The dockless feature enabled by Bounce’s patented keyless technology lets a user pick up a Bounce bike from the nearest location and after using it, drop it off at any legal parking zone. Riders can avail services at an affordable cost of INR 1/km and INR 1.7/min.

Bounce has partnered with Mass Rapid Transport in the city to ensure seamless first and last-mile connectivity. This is in sync with the company’s vision to enable public transportation as a primary route to commute and thereby decongest the city. In Bangalore, Bounce has partnered with Namma Metro and today 45% of Bounce rides either originate or culminate at metro stations.

Speaking at the launch event, Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary of I&C & IT, Telangana said, “Telangana has made real advancement by exploring emerging technologies to improve governance and public service delivery. Bounce’s foray into Hyderabad is in line with our commitment to introduce progressive, sustainable and inclusive offering for our public. I believe Bounce is going to enrich the transportation ecosystem with their shared mobility proposition.”

Commenting on the launch, Varun Agni, CTO and Co-Founder, Bounce said, “We are excited to introduce our dockless scooter service as an intracity mobility solution in Hyderabad. We chose Hyderabad as our first city to expand into as we believe it is one of the most mature and ready cities to transition into shared mobility. The overwhelming response that we have received in Bengaluru within a short span of times is a testament to the model we have created. We will be actively working with the government, civic and other authorities to ensure that our commute solutions help the city to decongest and enable people to shift to public transport and shared mobility.

Bounce has invested heavily in technology to ensure the safety of its users and vehicles and provides a 24×7 real-time tracking with all-day customer service. Scooters are enabled with latest tech solutions like IoT helmets, tilt and tow sensors, in addition to features like GPS tagging, Geo fencing and sensors that alert the team in case of a crash or battery tampering.

Bounce currently operates in the city of Bangalore with 13,000 dockless scooters and has a presence in over 35 cities in rental/docked model. The company recently crossed the 10 million rides mark, putting them on par with global players like Bird and Mobike in terms of scale as well as mobility milestones.

Bounce believes access to mobility should be a fundamental right and the company is working towards their vision by using existing mobility options and disrupting it through technological intervention & innovation.
